6. Work of the Adaptation Committee’s working group on the Technical Examination Process on Adaptation (TEP-A)

Summary outcome
The AC welcomed the active and constructive engagement of members of other constituted bodies and nominated NGO representatives in the work of the group.
The AC considered an oral report from the TEP-A working group on feedback received and lessons learned so far. It requested the working group to initiate work on the 2018 TEMs, on the topic of adaptation planning for vulnerable groups, communities and ecosystems, considering feedback received so far and the outcome of the assessment of the TEP-A, which will take place during COP23.

Summary outcome
The AC took note of the main tasks contained in the workplan of the NAP taskforce for 2018 and invited the taskforce to continue implementing its workplan, to which it did not have any changes.

Summary outcome
The AC considered the draft technical paper and provided guidance to the secretariat on its finalization by AC 13. The paper, along with possible draft recommendations derived from it, will be circulated to the AC in the inter-sessional period.
The AC also requested the secretariat to look into possibilities for turning it into a user-friendly online version and wide dissemination.

Summary outcome
The AC requested the secretariat to make this document, along with the overview referred to in its annex 2, available on the Adaptation Knowledge Portal, if possible in a user-friendly format, and to report back to AC 13 on progress made, including usage statistics.
It invited other existing platforms that are not contained in the list but that meet the established criteria to contact the secretariat in order to be included therein.
The AC further invited organizations that are listed in the mapping to regularly update the information provided in the overview. It also requested the secretariat, NWP partner organizations and the CTCN to widely promote the overview.
The AC welcomed an update provided on the Global Centre of Excellence on Adaptation.

7. (d) Meeting to exchange views on national adaptation goals/indicators and how they relate to indicators/goals for sustainable development and for disaster risk reduction in the context of the Sendai Framework

The AC considered an oral update providing some initial background for the meeting.
It agreed to establish a small working group to work inter-sessionally and prepare a concept note for the meeting. It invited interested observers to contribute to the work of the group.
The AC noted with appreciation offers of UNISDR and others to collaborate on the organization of the workshop.

Summary outcome
The AC agreed to use the findings of this paper to inform the preparation of the workshop on this matter.
The AC further agreed to continue work on collecting experiences from countries in accessing the readiness programme to have more information available at the workshop.

Summary outcome
The AC took note of an oral progress report on the workshop. It agreed to conduct the workshop in conjunction with the 2018 NAP Expo in Bonn, which is currently scheduled to take place in April 2018.

8. (a) (iii) Adaptation Finance Bulletin

Summary outcome
The AC agreed to issue the bulletin twice a year, after the COP and after the SB meetings. The AC agreed to keep some flexibility in timing so to be able to accommodate crucial relevant information as it becomes available. The AC requested the secretariat to share an outline of the future structure of the bulletin with AC well in advance of new issue with the goal of agreeing and populating it by December.

8. (b) Input to the draft guidance to the operating entities of the Financial Mechanism of the Convention

The AC had agreed on its input to the draft guidance to the operating entities of the Financial Mechanism of the Convention during the inter-sessional period. No further inputs were elaborated during AC 12.

Summary outcome
The AC agreed to request its working group on private sector engagement to work inter-sessionally on a concept note, based on the discussions at this meeting, and to further define the focus of the 2018 workshop.
It further requested its working group and other AC members to explore possibilities for collaboration on this workshop.

9. Awareness-raising, outreach and sharing of information: Adaptation Forum

Summary outcome
The AC agreed on the following topic for its next Adaptation Forum: “Integrating climate change adaptation with the SDGs and the Sendai Framework for DRR”, noting that this topic is broad enough to accommodate additional focus areas, such as the perspective of small islands and long-term adaptation planning.
It requested the secretariat to explore the possibility of holding the forum as a session of the 2018 Adaptation Futures conference, and requested its working group on this matter to provide guidance to the secretariat in the organization of the Forum.

10. Report of the Adaptation Committee to the 23rd session of the Conference of the Parties

Summary outcome
The AC took note of the draft report circulated in the inter-sessional period.
It requested the secretariat to finalize the report shortly after AC 12, taking note of the very tight deadline for review in order to meet the official submission deadline and ensure translation.
