Capacity building support to the first round of NDCs, good practices and lessons learnt: Reflections and examples of EU-funded activities

6 December 2018 / 13:00 - 14:30

PCCB Capacity-Building Hub / RYSY Meeting Room 24 - Area E

The EU and its Member States have provided capacity-building support for the improvement of domestic policies and measures, addressing climate change mitigation and adaptation in line with national development and SDG priorities globally. Various, targeted climate action capacity-building activities were carried out in the run-up to the Paris Agreement, coinciding with the development of the INDCs. These projects had defined contributions to the beneficiary country’s own processes of formulating INDCs.

The side event aims at highlighting those lessons drawn from these projects that are most relevant for the renewal of the NDCs, for raising ambition in line with the GST results and enhancing institutional capacities of the partner countries. The presenters bring their invaluable hands-on experience combining their INDC formulation and NDC implementation support experience and skills. The event intends to address interests of a broad audience, covering both donors and recipients of climate action support, allowing for a lively debate on how best to programme, plan and execute capacity building activities relevant for the NDCs.
