About Gender Day
Gender Day is dedicated to raising awareness on the importance of gender-responsive climate policy and action as well as highlighting women’s contribution and leadership in climate action. This year, Gender Day will be held on 10 December. The programme includes a technical workshop organized by CTCN on Technology Needs Assessments (TNAs) & Gender, UN Climate Action Award event with Women for Results winners, COP Presidency High Level event co-hosted by Germany and a gender market place.

This event will showcase the four winning projects of the 2019 UN Global Climate Action Awards under the Women for Results focus area, including a moderated discussion on how to advance women’s full, equal and meaningful participation in tackling climate change and how to promote gender-responsive climate policy.

CTCN Workshop: Gender mainstreaming in Technology Needs Assessments
This capacity building event will focus on sharing country experiences and key recommendations for development and implementation of gender-responsive Technology Needs Assessments (TNAs) with the aim of building the capacity of operating entities and stakeholders throughout the TNA process. The session will also facilitate discussions on gender-just technology prioritization, support identification of needs, and build the capacity of stakeholders to systematically ensure equal participation of men and women in national planning processes.

COP Presidency High Level Event on Gender co-hosted by Germany: Towards ambitious and gender-inclusive climate action and biodiversity preservation
The high-level event on gender justice for, climate change and biodiversity will aim to recognize and reaffirm the importance and relevance of integrating gender considerations into national and international climate action and biodiversity preservation, with a view to the implementation of the Paris Agreement to the ongoing development of the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework in the CBD. Specifically, this event would seek to promote higher levels of ambition through leadership and the inspiring message of women leaders in this segment. In addition, it aims to share experiences, perspectives, lessons learned and specific recommendations from a wide range of stakeholders regarding the integration of gender in climate change and biodiversity policy.
