From 2026 onwards, two intersessional virtual cross-body learning exchanges will be convened annually, offering ICG members a mechanism to share knowledge, reflect on practice and learn from one another in a practical and solution-oriented way. These exchanges are designed to move beyond information sharing, enabling bodies to explore how approaches, tools and lessons from one context can inform and strengthen the work of other members.
Objectives
The exchanges are broadly guided by the following objectives:
-
Deepen mutual understanding: To gain a clearer picture of each ICG member’s mandate, thematic focus areas, and existing capacity-building approaches
-
Share lessons learned: To create a structured space to reflect on what has worked, what has not, and what others can draw from these experiences.
-
Build capacity across the ICG membership: To equip ICG members with the tools and approaches to integrate cross-cutting themes (such as indigenous or local knowledge, gender etc.) into their work.
Exchange Formats
Depending on the nature of the lead's mandate and priority areas, an exchange may take the form of a body spotlight or thematic workshop. The agenda for each session will be co-developed by the lead and the PCCB secretariat support team:
A. Body spotlight
The featured constituted body/operating entity/work programme shares their mandate, thematic focus, capacity-building approaches, and lessons learned. Other members engage through dialogue, questions, and reflection on connections to their own work.
Outcome: Members learn about and from one another, building the mutual understanding needed for effective coordination.
B. Thematic workshop
The leading body/operating entity/work programme facilitates a practical, skills-oriented session equipping ICG members with tools, approaches, and entry points to integrate a specific theme into their own work. i.e. LCIPP facilitate a session on how members can meaningfully integrate indigenous and local knowledge into their capacity-building work.
Outcome: Members leave with concrete knowledge and practical steps they can apply within their own mandates and programmes.
Following each cross-learning body exchange a summary of key takeaways, lessons shared, and any agreed follow-up will be circulated to all ICG members. Over time, these summaries will contribute to a shared knowledge resource for the PCCB and ICG members.
