This document was prepared in response to the request made by the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), at its fortieth session, for the secretariat to prepare a document outlining the various options relating to the frequency and organization of the sessions of the Conference of the Parties (COP), the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP) and their subsidiary bodies. Guided by the principles of openness, transparency and inclusiveness, the document presents possible scenarios and related implications for the various options, including arrangements for the sessions of the COP, the CMP and their subsidiary bodies and the high-level
segment. The SBI is invited to consider the options and provide further guidance.
