The Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol, at its first session, established an open-ended ad hoc working group of Parties to the Kyoto Protocol for consideration of further commitments for Parties included in Annex I for the period beyond 2012, in accordance with Article 3, paragraph 9, of the Protocol. It invited Parties to submit to the secretariat, by 15 March 2006, their views regarding Article 3, paragraph 9, of the Kyoto Protocol, to be compiled and made available to the group before its first meeting (FCCC/KP/CMP/2005/8/Add.1, page 3, para.5). The secretariat has received 12 such submissions.
