The Joint Liaison Group (JLG), at its fifth meeting, in January 2004, agreed that a paper on options for enhanced cooperation among the three Rio Conventions would be prepared jointly by the secretariats of the Convention on Biological Diversity, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA), at its twentieth session, requested the secretariat to present the paper, as soon as it is available, for consideration by the SBSTA.
