The Road to Antalya

COP 31 will be held in Antalya, Türkiye, from 9 to 20 November 2026. In the lead-up, the COP 30 Presidency and the incoming COP 31 Presidency are working together to foster an open, transparent and inclusive process, through regular engagement with Parties and observers throughout the year.

Their engagements will bring together ministers, Heads of Delegation, and negotiators, as well as observers and stakeholders, to build shared understanding and lay the groundwork for successful outcomes in Antalya.

The Presidencies will coordinate closely with the Chairs of the subsidiary bodies to ensure coherence across the UNFCCC process.

The incoming COP 31 Presidency and Australia will work in close partnership, in line with the Türkiye-Australia Partnership Modalities.

The Presidencies encourage Parties to engage in a spirit of unity and shared purpose as they work together to deliver transformative and ambitious outcomes at COP 31 that enhance ambition and implementation of the global response to the threat of climate change.

The webpage will be regularly updated to reflect Presidencies' communication to and engagement with Parties and observers along the road to Antalya.

The COP 30 Presidency and the incoming COP 31 Presidency convened this year's first informal consultations with Heads of Delegation on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

The consultations provided a space for candid exchange among Chairs of Negotiating Groups and Heads of Delegation on taking stock of COP 30 achievements and looking ahead towards COP 31.

The consultations were held virtually, open to all Parties and Chairs/Coordinators of negotiating groups.

The virtual consultations were held in two parts to facilitate participation from various time zones:

  • Part 1: Wednesday, 11 March 2026, 9:30 - 11:00 CET
  • Part 2: Wednesday, 11 March 2026, 15:00 - 16:30 CET

Discussion questions guiding the consultations:

  • COP30 marked a shift to implementation. What would be practical ways to support implementation of climate action on the ground deriving from the policy cycle of the Paris Agreement?
  • What priorities do you envisage to guide our work in 2026 to ensure balanced and ambitious outcomes at COP 31?

The co-chairs' summary will be made available later.
