COP 19/CMP 9 President and COP 20/CMP 10 President-Designate open the High-level Ministerial Dialogue on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action

Ministers and high-level officials participated in the High-level Ministerial Dialogue on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action to provide political guidance on the necessary steps to developing an ambitious new agreement to address climate change and increasing pre-2020 global ambition. 

 

H.E. Mr. Marcin Korolec noted, inter alia, that Ministers and high-level officials expressed their full commitment to the full implementation of pledges made for the pre-2020 period, and conferred that the 2015 agreement to be concluded in Paris should be applicable to all, based on national determined contributions and cover all essential building blocks.

H.E. Mr. Manuel Pulgar-Vidal noted, inter alia, that Ministers and delegates drew attention to the need of increasing climate finance, strengthening the financial mechanism of the Convention and encouraging the quick capitalization of the Green Climate Fund. He also underscored the transformative effect that the Conference in Lima will have on Peru, and the contribution of his country to a new global legacy on climate responsibility.
