The NWP will host its 11th annual Focal Point Forum on the 8th November under the guidance of the Chair of the SBSTA. The forum will be an interactive and informal space for human settlement related exchanges and information sharing between NWP partner organizations, Parties to the UNFCCC, as well as other relevant organizations.
The forum will foster collaboration and partnerships between participating entities, thereby contributing to the NWP’s core function of working with third parties to translate key findings and identified knowledge gaps into concrete adaptation actions.

In addition to the main thematic areas, it is anticipated there will be substantive discussion about small island developing states, least developed and developing countries, as well as about urban, rural, remote and coastal settlements.
Discussions will build on the 22 submissions made by Parties, and by partner and other organizations, and will explore challenges as well as opportunities for human settlement related adaptation.
Following COP 23, the NWP will prepare a synthesis report encapsulating the key findings from the Focal Point Forum discussions and submissions. This report will be considered at SBSTA 48 in May 2018.
