Press and Media - May-June 2021 Climate Change Conference

Acreditation

Media accreditation for the May–June 2021 Climate Change Conference Sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies is now open.

The sessions will be held virtually over a three-week period, from 31 May to 17 June 2021.

Considering the virtual nature of the SBs, the secretariat urges media to register as soon as possible so that the necessary technical preparations can be made. Nonetheless, the system will remain open until the end of the sessions.

Online registration is the only official channel for nominating participants for these sessions. The secretariat is not in a position to receive applications sent by any other method, e.g. e-mail, fax or post. Requests for technical support can be sent to: onlinereg@unfccc.int.

1. Go to the Online Registration System
2. Look on the top left corner for options to either login or create an account.  If you already have an account, you can log in with your existing credentials. If you have to create a new account, you will receive login credentials during that procedure
3. Log in with your e-mail address and password
4. In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, select "May–June 2021 Climate Change Conference Sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies" as the current meeting
5. Upload the required documentation and click on "Submit application"

Once you have received confirmation of your accreditation, you will be registered for the sessions and receive a Registration Acknowledgement Form.

Press conferences

Registered Press and Media: Please access the virtual conference platform in order to join meetings and ask questions during press conferences. Please ensure you are officially registered in advance of the meetings you would like to attend and ask questions in. We suggest to do this at least 1 day in advance of the first meeting you wish to attend, to allow for enough time to go through the process, browse the conference platform and get familiar with the technical process.
Once inside the virtual conference platform, use the 'join' button for the press conferences where you would like to ask questions. We suggest to join the meetings a good 15min before the scheduled start time.
Public webcast of press conferences (without the option to ask questions) are available here.

More detailed and expanded information on the calendar of meetings during the sessions will be posted on our website as it becomes available.

There were two ways to participate in press conferences: registered media and public webcast.

Registered Media had to be officially registered in advance of the meetings they wanted to attend and ask questions in. Secretariat suggested to do so at least 1 day in advance of the first meeting, to allow for enough time to go through the process, browse the conference platform and get familiar with the technical process.
