Recording

This session aimed to demystify the Paris Agreement's Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) to empower youth engagement, as well as build confidence among participants in utilizing national reports to champion equitable, low-carbon development. Participants learned how transparent reporting - including emissions inventories, climate finance, and action - builds trust, tracks progress, and strengthens accountability across climate efforts. By the end of the session, participants had clearly defined entry points for youth-led transparency initiatives and were motivated to integrate these tools into their climate action strategies.

Background

Transparency is key to building trust, tracking progress, and driving impactful climate action. Under the Paris Agreement, the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) enables countries and other actors to report on emissions, climate action, and support — helping direct efforts where they’re needed most.

Youth have a crucial role to play. Understanding and engaging in climate transparency allows young people to:

  • Access and apply climate data to real-world challenges

  • Influence and make informed decisions

  • Pursue careers in climate policy and data

  • Push for fair, low-carbon, resilient development

This session explored how transparency supports effective climate action and how youth can get involved.

Objectives

As part of #Together4Transparency, the main objectives of this capacity-building session were the following:

  • Highlight the importance and benefits of climate transparency

  • Explain the ETF and its role in the Paris Agreement

  • Enable participants to access and use climate data reported under the UNFCCC

  • Create space for youth to share insights and experiences
