Background

The NAP Country Platform provides a space for developing countries that have recently submitted their NAP to present their NAP, to highlight their adaptation priorities and lay out how they will design implementation. Country representatives will also share the main lessons learned and the immediate next steps in the implementation of the NAP. The event will be held on 09 November 2021 from 19:00 to 20:30 (BST) in the Resilience Hub, pavilion area, at COP26 in Glasgow.

The first NAP Country Platform was held during the 2019 NAP Expo. Details are available here: http://napexpo.org/2019/sessions/parallel-session-9-1.

About NAPs

Established in 2010 under the UNFCCC, the process to formulate and implement national adaptation plans (NAPs) enables countries to identify medium- and long-term adaptation needs, and to develop and implement programmes to address those needs. It serves as an instrument for coordinating and driving actions of all actors and stakeholders in pursuit of adaptation goals and outcomes at the national level. As a continuous, progressive and iterative process, it follows a country-driven, gender-sensitive, participatory and fully transparent approach in adaptation planning. The NAP, to be produced periodically, is the main output of the longer-term process of planning. As at 1 November 2021, 30 developing countries had submitted their NAPs on NAP Central at https://www4.unfccc.int/sites/NAPC/Pages/national-adaptation-plans.aspx
