This information session on gender and climate change is being held ahead of the 62nd session of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB 62) to support Party representatives, observers, and the wider public in understanding and preparing for gender-related discussions at the conference.

The session will offer an overview of gender-related mandated events and negotiations scheduled for SB 62, focusing on the initiation the development of a new gender action plan (decision 7/CP. 29, p. 13)[1]. The session will also provide participants with updates on gender and climate change stemming from the Commission on the Status of Women and Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

 

[1] As per the COP 29 decision, where Parties agreed to extend the enhanced Lima Work Programme on Gender (LWPG) for a further ten years.
