Background

This Masterclass on AI for Energy Systems is organized by the UN Climate Change Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB), the Technology Executive Committee (TEC), and the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
During the Masterclass, participants explored how artificial intelligence can be used for low-emission, climate-resilient energy systems. The event is part of the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism Initiative on AI for Climate Action, which explores the potential of AI as a technological tool for advancing and scaling up transformative climate solutions in developing countries, particularly in LDCs and SIDS.

Objectives

  • Raise awareness of the opportunities, risks and challenges involved in using AI for low-emission, climate-resilient energy systems
  • Enhance capacities for using AI based on concrete case studies from the energy sector
  • Facilitate the exchange of insights, views and networking among peers and a diverse group of participant
