Event description
This event, jointly organized by UN Climate Change through the #Together4Transparency initiative (#T4T), the Baku Global Climate Transparency Platform (BTP), and the COP30 and COP31 Presidencies, will bring together Heads of Delegation and senior Party representatives to reflect on progress made in implementing the ETF and to maintain political engagement for transparency under the Paris Agreement.
The event will provide a space for sharing success stories, lessons learned, and practical experiences from Parties that have successfully advanced their transparency systems and submitted their first BTRs. It will also provide an opportunity to openly discuss remaining challenges and identify ways to strengthen support for countries’ Transparency reporting.
The event will highlight the importance of sustaining collective efforts to ensure timely preparation of BTR2, strengthen national transparency systems, and promote inclusive progress so that all Parties can effectively participate in the ETF.
The discussion will adopt a forward-looking and positive perspective, emphasizing the value of transparency as a tool for enhancing climate action, building trust among Parties, and informing better policy decisions.
The event will contribute to early reflections on the MPGs review process to be concluded by 2028, highlighting how lessons from current ETF implementation can support the evolution of the transparency framework and provide inputs for future political guidance, including in the context of COP31.
The event will also serve as the first in a series of three high-level engagements planned throughout the year to maintain political momentum for transparency implementation and BTR submissions.
A light lunch will be available for participants, facilitating informal exchanges among Heads of Delegation and other participants.
