Background

COP 28, CMP 18 and CMA 5 requested the UNFCCC secretariat to organize a two-day global dialogue on the impacts of the implementation of response measures in conjunction with intersessional meetings of the Katowice Committee on Impacts in 2024 and 2025 (decisions 13/CP.18, 4/CMP.18, 19/CMA.5).

Second dialogue on Impacts of Implementation of Response Measures

The Second global dialogue on the impacts of the implementation of response measures is organized in partnership with United Nations Development Programme Istanbul Regional Hub. The event will be hosted by the Government of Turkiye on 9-10 September 2024 , in conjunction with the 13th meeting of the Katowice Committee on Impacts (KCI). The global dialogue is organized, under the guidance of the Chairs of the subsidiary bodies, pursuant to decisions 13/CP.28, 4/CMP.18, and 19/CMA.5.

Taking into account submissions from Parties, observers, and other non-Party stakeholders, the Chairs of the subsidiary bodies have determined that the 2025 dialogue will focus on “Advancing the Implementation and Mainstreaming of Response Measures in the Context of NDCs: Managing Synergies and Trade-Offs to Create Jobs, Enhance Co-Benefits, and Promote Equitable Approaches to Critical Minerals”.
