The documented savings that geothermal heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems offer are significant and their design inherently leads to modularity, and scalability. These systems provide significant energy savings and are designed to last for over 90 years. Other benefits include reduction of greenhouse emissions, reduction in peak load grid power requirements, and opportunities within the educational sector. This project’s model illustrates that it is possible to achieve symbiosis between financial benefits of utilizing an energy efficient system for stakeholders, while achieving emission reductions that benefit the environment and our future.
Fast facts:
- The geothermal HVAC systems provide 24/7 energy savings over decades and are designed to last for over 90 years;
- The system can be installed in nearly every country in any area on Earth.
The problem
Historically, while water-source geothermal systems are efficient; their significant installation costs have impeded the purchase of such a unit. The Subthermal Solutions design removes this obstacle and actually delivers cost savings and efficiencies unmatched by any other system currently available.
The solution
By using the renewable energy reserves of the Earth itself it is possible to provide heating and cooling to a single domestic home up to a district area with thousands of dwellings, commercial premises, warehouses and swimming pools, or virtually any building or enclosed space in an environmentally friendly and cost effective way. The system can be installed in nearly every country in any area on Earth, the only variable is the cost (as some areas produce a higher yield with less cost of installation). At scale, geothermal systems can be installed without any cost to the homeowner/occupant, with infrastructure capital investment being paid as a percentage of a utility charge, which is offset by the savings in electricity provided.
Helping the planet
This project can attain sustainability by reducing dependence on fossil fuels and nonrenewable energy.
Helping people
The project uses local aboriginal companies as environmental field assessors and to provide maintenance and support during the construction and the ongoing servicing and maintenance of the power systems for many decades. This activity works with local business as both clients and providers of goods and services.
Scaling Up
The system can be installed in nearly every country in any area on Earth, the only variable is the cost (as some areas produce a higher yield with less cost of installation).
