The Ambition Cycle

What

The Ambition Cycle is a dynamic approach to developing and implementing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) that aims to combat climate change. It follows a cyclical process that starts with the creation of a long-term low-emission development strategy (LT-LEDS) that outlines a country's climate goals and the pathways it will undertake to achieve them.

Aligned with the LT-LEDS, a new, more ambitious NDC is prepared every five years, ensuring a collective effort towards limiting global warming to well below 1.5 degrees Celsius. The Ambition Cycle empowers countries to raise ambition, accelerate climate action, and secure a sustainable future.

Our event objective is to foster knowledge sharing among partners in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region regarding the ongoing energy transition. We aim to assess current progress, evaluate the effectiveness of actions taken, determine the future course, and explore necessary measures to achieve the shared climate goals.

The event language is Spanish-English, and it will be held in-person or virtually in Room Amador II. We encourage you to join this unique opportunity to learn and network with climate change experts from LAC region while exploring new strategies for combatting climate change. Together, we can work towards a better future for ourselves and our planet.
