Details

The event constituted an introductory platform, covering topics such as definitions around carbon pricing, its purposes and benefits as well as reviewing already implemented carbon pricing strategies around the world.

The DCC presented “Carbon pricing to date and current discussions at the national level, focusing on Lao PDR's Nationally Determined Contributions."
In doing so, DCC expressed specific needs for support, including capacity building related to Article 6, and the organization of future training programs for local governments and the private sector.
These initiatives mark a step towards a more sustainable and climate-conscious future in Laos.

The Regional Collaboration Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RCC AP) team also provided insights into the Carbon Pricing and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, shedding light on emission reduction strategies and how to utilize the carbon pricing instruments as a mean to achieve climate goals.
