Eighth National Communications - Annex I

Parties included in Annex I to the Convention (Annex I Parties) including those that are also Parties to the Kyoto Protocol shall submit their National Communications (NCs) to the secretariat every four years (decision 2/CP.17). The eighth national communication (NC8) should be submitted as early as the annual greenhouse gas inventory submission for the inventory year 2020 is provided to the UNFCCC (e.g., 15 April 2022), but no later than 31 December 2022, in order to provide Parties with the opportunity to include the inventory data in these reports (decision 6/CP.25). In addition to the requirements laid out in the national communications reporting guidelines (FCCC/CP/1999/7), Annex I Parties report on Global Climate Change Observing Systems (GCOS) in their NCs (decision 11/CP.13).

The NCs shall be submitted using the submission portal. Questions relating to the use of the submission portal should be addressed to reporting-ai@unfccc.int.
