Side Events

Side events

Side Events were established as a platform for observer organizations to highlight diverse climate change issues at UNFCCC conferences. Side Events are a vital component of the sessions, as they provide opportunities for information dissemination, capacity building, policy discussions and legitimizing global governance. Alongside Parties or UN agencies, observer organizations present their work or foster discussions on key issues, often engaging the audience in a Q&A session.

The online registration period closed on 21 March 2014. All applicants will be informed on the outcome of their application through SEORS in the coming weeks. Those who missed the registration period could be placed on a waiting list in case there are cancellations. For additional information, please consult the List of Side Events or contact the Side Events and Exhibit team see@unfccc.int.

Selected side events that focus on pre-2020 ambition

Technical experts meetings are being organized under the guidance of the ADP Co-Chairs to share policies, practices and technologies and address the necessary finance, technology and capacity building, with a special focus on actions with high mitigation potential. Further to the technical expert meetings held at ADP 2-4 focusing on renewable energy and energy efficiency, the technical expert meetings in June will focus on opportunities for action on urban environment and land use. The side events listed below focus on areas being considered in the technical expert meetings and on pre-2020 ambition in general.
