The NAP Expo is an outreach event organized by the LEG under the UNFCCC, in collaboration with various bodies and organizations, to promote exchange of experiences and foster partnerships between a wide range of actors and stakeholders on how to advance National Adaptation Plans (NAPs). It brings together a diversity of Party and non-Party stakeholders to exchange ideas and on ways to further advance NAPs.
The Regional NAP Expo for Asia was held on 11 and 12 September 2017, in Seoul, Republic of Korea. It was co-hosted by UNFCCC and Ministry of Environment, Republic of Korea, and organized by Korea Environment Institute (KEI) - Korea Adaptation Center for Climate Change (KACCC) in partnership with National Adaptation Plan Global Support Programme (NAP-GSP) jointly implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD).
Objectives
- The regional NAP Expo is aimed at advancing the formulation and implementation of NAPs. Specific objectives are as follows:
- To update stakeholders on the latest guidance on the technical and financial aspects to advance the formulation and implementation of NAPs in the region;
- To discuss country experiences, best practices, lessons learned, gaps and needs and information on support provided and received in relation to the process to formulate and implement NAPs;
- To offer a platform for countries to interact with the GCF and others providing support for NAPs, as a means to improve access to financing for NAPs.
