The Conference of the Parties, at its 24th session (COP24), requested the secretariat to develop activities related to the implementation of all three functions of the Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples Platform (LCIPP) at each session of the SBSTA until the workplan is adopted.The three functions of the LCIPP are knowledge, capacity for engagement, and climate change policies and actions.
The COP also encouraged the Facilitative Working Group (FWG) of the LCIPP to collaborate with other bodies under and outside the Convention, as appropriate, aiming at enhancing the coherence of the actions of the LCIPP under the Convention.
In accordance with the incremental approach of the LCIPP, this informal dialogue will build on the previous dialogue that took place at SB 50 in June 2019, and aim to:
- Share updates on inter-body collaborations between the FWG and other constituted bodies under the Convention;
- Explore additional synergistic and collaborative opportunities between the FWG and other constituted bodies under the Convention to enhance the coherence of the actions of the LCIPP
This informal dialogue will be between representatives of the various constituted bodies under the Convention. It will be open to all observers.
