Presentation of Results of #WWViews

World Wide Views and the UN Climate Change Secretariat are presenting key findings of the largest global consultation ever held on climate change and energy on 10 June, during the ongoing UNFCCC negotiations in Bonn, in preparation of the UN climate conference in Paris in December. All delegates and observers attending the Bonn meeting are invited, and observers and media not at the conference can view the presentation and participate via live webcast and social media.

What is WWViews?

The opinions of 10,000 citizens representing a cross section of society in 79 countries met on 6 June 2015 to make their voices heard in the international climate change negotiations. The consultations focused on five key areas: The

  • Importance of tackling climate change
  • Tools to tackle climate change
  • UN negotiations and national commitments
  • Fairness and distribution of efforts
  • Making and keeping climate promises

When and where are the findings being presented?

The findings are being presented at 15.15 CET (9:00 a.m. EST). For those physically attending the conference, the venue is Press Room, Nairobi 3.

Who is presenting?

  • Christiana Figueres, UNFCCC Executive Secretary
  • Bjørn Bedsted, Global Coordinator of WWViews at the Danish Board of Technology
  • Yves Mathieu, Co-coordinator of WWViews on Climate and Energy
  • Christian Leyrit, president of the French National Commission for Public Debate

Can I already see the results?

The local results were published immediately after each consultation making it possible for everyone to compare the views of citizens in different countries and groupings relevant for these negotiations.

What happens later?

Following the event on 10 June in Bonn, the results will be presented at several other key meetings over the coming key months.
