UN Climate Change News, 2 September 2020 – The Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB) Network has launched a project called Capacity-building Stories, that aims to collect, showcase and disseminate concrete examples of capacity-building efforts by members of the network.
It is a call that aims to shed light on ongoing efforts of PCCB Network members and hopes to turn this wealth of knowledge, experience and inspiration into learning opportunities for a wider circle of capacity-building actors, and ultimately, more impactful climate actions.
The sharing of stories is open to all PCCB Network members and we invite all interested capacity-building experts and practitioners to join the steadily growing network if they have not already done so.
The PCCB Network is an initiative launched by the Paris Committee on Capacity-building in April 2020 and aims to connect actors involved in climate-related capacity-building at different levels: community-level actors, to research communities, regional networks and international entities.
Activities of the PCCB Network align with the PCCB’s work areas, and are categorized under three main streams of work:
- Technical exchange and peer learning
- Outreach and communications
- Networking and engagement
The capacity-building stories called for will be communicated collaboratively, and in a variety of formats: interviews, standup talks, podcasts and other engaging means. All stories will be published on the PCCB Network Facebook page. The collaborating partners are then free to employ their own communication channels to disseminate and amplify the stories though their networks.
Capacity-building Stories aim to provide insider views from the work of various capacity-building actors, the opportunities they utilize, and the challenges they face. They also give the readers and viewers a better understanding of ongoing capacity-building efforts, as well as existing gaps and needs, particularly in developing countries.
The first story was published recently and featured a joint initiative led by the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) and the Climate Development and Knowledge Network (CDKN) called “Voices from the Frontline.”
To tell this story, Simone Albus from the UN Climate Change Capacity-building Team sat down with Saleemul Huq and Shehnaaz Moosa to find out more about this initiative, the thinking behind it, and the impact this initiative hopes to make. Watch the interview here.
We invite all capacity-building enthusiasts to follow these stories, share them with their networks, and add to them through the PCCB social media channels as well as the PCCB Network webpages. Please see relevant links below.
