2050 Weather Forecast for Peru

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has asked television presenters around the world to produce a series of weather reports for 2050.

The first series of videos from 14 countries was released ahead of the UN Climate Summit in September, painting a compelling picture of what life would be like on a warmer planet if greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise.

Now a second series of future weather reports from Peru, France, Vietnam, Spain, Canada and Norway is being released to coincide with the Lima Climate Change Conference (COP 20/CMP 10).

The first in this second series, from COP 20/CMP 10 host country Peru, gives the example of how exceptionally heavy rains could force the government to temporarily ban access to the citadel of Machu Picchu.

The forecasts are all derived from their professional judgement based on possible scenarios from the latest scientific projections about climate change by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
