Background
This session assembles global youth climate experts and social entrepreneurs in energy, agri-food systems, and investment banks to bring about robust investment strategies to propel renewables-driven resilient agri-food systems despite the existing obstacles encountered by both development partners and developing nations.
The session aims to maximize the enablers’ capacity in tripling climate action through “Interstate Cooperation, Cross-sectoral Collaboration, City-State Governance and Citizen Participation”.
CliMates is an international youth think-and-do-tank, which aims at finding innovative solutions against climate change and gathering the next generation of decision-makers. CliMates gathers more than 150 young people in over 30 countries who are highly qualified in the subject matter, and trains them to address and anticipate emerging climate change issues through participatory and innovative tools disseminated by the Mobilization Pole.
Universal Versatile Society (UVS or UV Society) is an Indian NGO, founded in 2005 in special consultative status with United Nations ECOSOC, UNEP and UNCCD. Since its inception, UVS has been actively engaged in EcoVillage building to address environment, education, agriculture, energy consumption, mental health and women empowerment thematic areas through people’s participation in Washim district, Maharashtra, India.
Objectives
- Promote successful practices on public-private partnerships, revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development, bridge the gap between COP29 and COP30, and strengthen the nexus between renewable energies and agri-food systems towards net zero emissions.
- Expedite the successful integration of holistic investment strategies, youth-led platforms, and climate projects, especially agri-food transformation systems, to expedite climate actions in developing countries through robust multilateral partnerships for pluralism development.
- Amplify youth leadership and STEM women's meaningful participation in tripling renewables and developing innovative climate technology to transform the agri-food system and better attract investment from multi-stakeholders.
- Break silos to unleash all enablers in the society especially non-state actors and citizens’ meaningful participation in tripling climate action to align well with the Paris Agreement, national climate pledges (NDC, NAP, VNR), and non-state actors coalition.
