The Global Climate Action Portal (GCAP) - officially NAZCA - is an online platform where actors from around the globe can register their commitments to act on climate change. Launched by UN Climate Change, Peru and France 10 years ago, the portal was born of the realization that addressing climate change will take ambitious, broad-based action from all segments of society, public and private.

Since the launch, the depth and breadth of the information presented on GCAP has constantly been enhanced. 2024 and the coming years are no different in that the secretariat has an extensive work programme to improve GCAP further.

The secretariat is preparing to redevelop GCAP to leverage several opportunities such as improve user interaction, update to the latest technology, align with the Recogniition and Accountablity Framework, expand data providers, automate data capture and more. Therefore, this event is to provide background on progress made since COP28, present the planned work programme and how to make GCAP fit-for-purpose for the next 10 years.
