Background

This session aims to explore the major challenges of telling a fascinating climate story to enhance the effectiveness of capacity building and unlock the power behind those stories by utilising story canvas tools. The audience will hear and learn from powerful climate stories told by young climate activists from European countries and the Asia-Pacific region with diverse cultural backgrounds incl. First Nations. 

Digital Storytellers empowers a wider community of purpose-driven leaders to harness the power of story and change systems for the better. Practical tools created by Digital Storytellers contribute to strengthening people-to-people linkages worldwide and have been leveraged to deliver more inclusive narratives reflecting the beautiful and authentic world. 

CliMates is an international youth think-and-do-tank, which aims at finding innovative solutions against climate change and gathering the next generation of decision-makers. CliMates gathers more than 150 young people in over 30 countries that are highly qualified in  the subject matter, and trains them to address and anticipate emerging climate change issues through participatory and innovative tools disseminated by the Mobilisation Pole altogether.  

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander International Engagement Organisation (ATSIIEO) is an indigenous organisation dedicated to the building of positive international partnerships for First Nation expertise, the promotion and enhancement of networks and exchange and development of mutually beneficial opportunity and interests. 

 

Objectives

  • Amplify individual awareness and experience of climate crisis and foster a holistic view of intergenerational impacts of climate change 

  • Inspire stakeholders at all levels to mobilise social resources such as talents and technologies for resolving urgent global climate issues together 

  • Empower more stakeholders worldwide to be better equipped with hands-on skills for telling effective climate stories to advance storytelling capacity building 

  • Motivate young and indigenous people to proactively participate in decision-making process of climate action, including mitigation strategy and adaptation plan
