The objectives of the two-day consultation are to build an integrated approach to support developing countries, particularly Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), acquire technical capacity and expertise needed to identify policy and regulatory gaps, high impact interventions, align Nationally Determined Contribution (NDCs) to investment plans, translate Nationally Determined Contribution investment plans into a pipeline of bankable projects, and improve access to different sources of finance for NDC-action projects. Such an integrated approach should also help government better invest domestic public resources in Nationally Determined Contributions through improved alignment between country-level SDG and Nationally Determined Contribution financing plans; and to strengthen the coordination and collaboration with the NDC Partnership, in particular with UNDP taking lead at country level, to provide such support in the immediate term and coming years. The consultation builds on work from existing initiatives and processes. The Green Climate Fund (GCF) through its Readiness Programme, supports the development and implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions of developing countries. Through the NDC Partnership, other institutions provide technical and financial support to developing countries in their endeavor to develop and/or update their Nationally Determined Contributions. Since this consultation is at an early stage, it will begin with institutional partners, with a view to sharing outcomes with developing and developed countries and development partners for inputs and feedback
