The Least Developed Countries Expert Group is mandated to provide technical guidance and support to the least developed countries (LDCs) on the process to formulate and implement national adaptation plans (NAPs), the preparation and implementation of the national adaptation programmes of action (NAPAs) and the implementation of the LDC work programme.

As part of its work programme, the LEG organizes side events at each session of the SBI to provide an update on its work, share experiences and challenges faced by the LDCs on adaptation, and to discuss the support provided to the LDCs.
