The recent establishment of the role of the Presidency Youth Climate Champion (Decision 16/CP.28) is designed to facilitate the inclusive engagement of children and young people in climate policy and action. To ensure global reach, the event will be delivered in person as part of the Climate Week’s Implementation Forum and utilize a hybrid format. It will serve as an opportunity for youth to engage directly with the COP30 and COP29 Youth Climate Champions and provide input for consideration in the ongoing planning of activities leading up to and at COP30. The event will also provide a space for participants to learn about YOUNGO’s Global Youth Statement. The consultation will contribute to a series of regional virtual consultations by the COP30 YCC starting in August, which seek to:

• Enhance the understanding of young people on the Global Mutiraõ and ways to facilitate their greater involvement.
• Hear from youth across different regions on their priorities and aspirations for COP30.
• Discuss children's engagement in climate policy and action.
