From virtual reality to cinema and cultural expression, this session invited participants to weave knowledge and imagine different futures, where creativity and technology help us see, feel, and communicate about the world we aspire to live in.
In a rapidly changing world, imagining alternative futures is crucial for building resilience and driving transformation. Creativity, culture, and technology offer powerful ways to connect logic and emotion, translating them into collective climate action that helps us see, feel, and communicate about the world we aspire to live in. Through storytelling, cinema and immersive tools like virtual reality, communities can visualize complex realities, connect science with lived experience, and co-create inclusive, sustainable pathways for the future.
The session featured short, thought-provoking interventions from three diverse speakers, followed by an open and interactive dialogue. Each speaker shared about their expertise, ranging from the use of artificial intelligence in filmmaking to inspire climate action, to innovative applications of virtual and augmented reality that engage communities in informal urban settlements in Brazil, and to creative collaborations that bridge research and the arts to showcase and safeguard Indigenous knowledge.
