Abstract

The in-session workshop on the assessment of risk and vulnerability of agricultural
systems to different climate change scenarios at regional, national and local levels,
including but not limited to pests and diseases was held in Bonn, Germany, on 3 June 2015,
during the forty-second session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological
Advice. In the presentations and discussions that took place at the workshop, Parties
highlighted the important role of the assessment of risk and vulnerability of agricultural
systems, taking into consideration the particular vulnerability of agriculture to climate
change impacts and the central role of the agriculture sector in ensuring food security in
different climatic conditions. Parties also highlighted the importance of, inter alia,
exploring the potential for synergies among existing processes under the Convention in
facilitating the assessment of risk and vulnerability of agricultural systems to different
climate change scenarios, and sharing knowledge and information on good practices and
lessons learned relating thereto.
