Technologies for adaptation: innovation, priorities and needs in agriculture, water resources and coastal zones
As a component of the AC’s work on providing technical support and guidance to Parties on adaptation planning and implementation, including means of implementation, at the national and subnational level, this paper aims to provide an overview of planning and implementation of adaptation technologies in the areas of agriculture, water resources, and coastal zones. It discusses adaptation technologies in the agriculture, water resources, and coastal zones sectors in general terms and describes the critical role of technology transfer in facilitating access to these technologies; elucidates some of the priorities and needs for adaptation technologies in the agriculture; examines the implementation of adaptation technologies in these sectors and more generally, as well as related good practices, gaps, needs, and challenges; explores innovative technologies for adaptation, including frontier technologies, and how these can accelerate resilience building activities; and looks at cross-cutting issues, namely regulatory issues and stakeholder engagement. It concludes by offering general reflections and outlines potential next steps.
