The new home of climate action information on the web.

This is a blog – you guessed it – about climate action, and more specifically, the work that the UNFCCC and its partners are doing to combat climate change.

So, who are we? Well, UNFCCC (also known as UN Climate Change) is tasked with leading and facilitating the global response to climate change, by supporting intergovernmental negotiations and catalyzing climate action.

The Framework Convention on Climate Change has near universal membership (197 Parties) and is the parent treaty of the 2015 Paris Agreement, as well as of the earlier Kyoto Protocol, adopted in 1997. The main aim of the Paris Agreement is to keep the global average temperature rise to as close as possible to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels; basically it’s a central part of the battle to protect our planet.

We - that's the UN Climate Change secretariat - work with Parties who ratified those international treaties, as well as organizations and individuals around the world – basically non-party actors (anyone who isn’t a nation state) – who want to make a positive impact on the planet. We also strive to bridge the gap between public and private sectors to support a better implementation of the Paris Agreement. That’s everyone from football teams and fashion brands to NGOs and cities; so there are lots of stories to tell; all of which will helpfully motivate you to start taking climate action too.

This is a global effort and the blog will reflect that: we will feature stories from around the world, and feature everything from essays and videos to interviews and brief explainers; hopefully becoming a home for climate action information on the web.

If you have suggestions for the blog or stories you would like to see covered – or just want to say hi – please contact us at: blog(at)unfccc.int. Your feedback is always welcome.

We will be posting a variety of articles every week; we look forward to joining you on your climate action journey.
