GCA overview

An overview of thematic days at Global Climate Action

The first three GCA days (10-12 November) will showcase action in 8 core thematic areas; namely Energy, Water, Agriculture, Oceans & Coastal Zones, Human Settlements, Transport, Industry and Forests. The final two days (13-14 November) will pivot into the high-level segment, featuring the most prominent speakers who can spotlight the crosscutting themes of finance, innovation, resilience, Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities & Communities) and Sustainable Development Goal 2 (Zero Hunger).

On the evening of 15 November, the highlights of the five-day Global Climate Action programme will be relayed directly to assembled delegates, Ministers and Heads of State at one event within the main plenary room of the negotiations.

This event will provide the only platform where a very select group of non-Party stakeholders can land the critical message of accelerated climate action and, therefore, acts as the critical bridge between the two zones of the negotiations: Bonn and Bula. It will be attended by the United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres (who will offer remarks), as well as the COP President, Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama, and the Executive Secretary of UN Climate Change, Patricia Espinosa.
