Events and Exhibitions

COP 23 will host many events and exhibitions by Parties (governments), non-Party stakeholders and the UNFCCC secretariat. These events and exhibitions will take place in the Bonn Zone, making it a major hub for showcasing climate action, knowledge-sharing, capacity-building and networking.

The Bonn Zone will be open from Monday, 6 November until Friday, 17 November 2017, including Sunday, 12 November, from 8 am to 10 pm. For more information on the two zones, see here.

Events

 As at past climate change conferences, there will be a wide array of events. These will include:

• A series of events organized under the Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action
• Special events and high-level events by the COP Presidency and the UNFCCC secretariat
• A large number of side events on climate-related issues offered by governments, non-governmental organizations, the UNFCCC secretariat and UN organizations
• Media events
• Cultural and other events organized outside the official conference venue
• Pavilion events relating to the climate action process, organized within different pavilions, by parties and observer organizations
• A series of events co-organized by Fiji and Germany in Talanoa Space in the Bonn Zone

All applications for official side events were received through the Side Events and Exhibitions Online Registration System (SEORS) during the opening period.

Exhibitions

Exhibitions serve as a platform for observer organizations and Parties to highlight diverse climate change issues and provide a meeting point for participants. They cover a wide variety of topics and are loosely clustered by theme. An exhibit stand is offered free of charge. Parties and observer organizations are also organizing exhibitions, on commercial basis, in their Pavilions.

Richard Kinley Gallery Open for Daily Tours at COP23

During COP23, participants holding a badge for Bula Zone are welcome to take a guided tour or visit the Richard Kinley Gallery at the UN Climate Change secretariat premises, Room H-107 (AH building, UN Campus).

The exhibition, launched April 2017, takes visitors through the early days of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) through to what was once termed, the “impossible dream”, the Paris Climate Change Agreement of 2015. Exhibits include rare photographs, archival video and original artefacts.

Curator, Jessica Bushey will be providing daily tours of the exhibition from November 6 – 17, during open hours 10:00 – 18:00.

Application process for side events and exhibitions

All applications for official side events and exhibitions were received through the Side Events and Exhibitions Online Registration System (SEORS) during the opening period.

Participation and registration

Pavilion organizers, exhibitors and speakers must be registered for the conference as representatives of Parties or admitted observer organizations to ensure that they are granted access to the conference venue. Information on participation and registration is available here.
