The President announced that Mr. Muhammad Irfan Tariq, Vice President of the COP, had already begun consultations on behalf of the COP 25 President and thanked Vice President Tariq for continuing these consultations until the nominations have been finalized. In accordance with the established practice, those consultations will include nominations to all bodies for election during the Conference.
The President recalled that 212 nominations in total were required from groups, and that only 7 had so far been received. He also urged Parties to nominate men and women equally.
The President announced a deadline for nominations of Saturday, 6 November at 8 p.m.
In addition, the President requested Vice President Tariq to include in his consultations the matter of the composition of constituted bodies. The matter had been proposed by Georgia in the context of the COP 26 provisional agenda.
