Follow Events Focusing on Gender and Climate in Bonn per Live Webcast

UN Climate Change News, 2 May 2018 - Stepping up gender-responsive climate policy and promoting gender equality in the international response to climate change will be the focus of a series of events during the Bonn Climate Change Conference, all of which will be webcast live.

Governments have recognized the importance of involving women and men equally in UN Climate Change processes and in the development and implementation of national climate policies that are gender-responsive.

Women who are climate experts, gender experts – or both - including grassroots leaders, policy makers, financiers, project developers, and farmers, bring critically important and often different perspectives that can lead to more effective climate policy and action, while advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment in the process.

Implementation of the Gender Action Plan, adopted in 2017, will be high on the agenda at the different discussions all of them will be webcast live and open to all interested Parties and observers on location.

The programme is as follows:

  • In-session workshop on Gender and Climate Change (part 1), Wednesday 2 May 11:00 – 14:00 and 16:00 – 19:00 (CET) at the UN Campus AHH, Upper Conference Room, The workshop plenary sessions will be webcast live and be available afterwards on-demand.   • Dialogue with Chairs of constituted bodies, Saturday 5 May, 10:00 – 13:00, LEU 2312 (CET) The dialogue will be broadcast via Skype Broadcast. The technical paper (FCCC/TP/2018/1) on entry points for integrating gender considerations in UNFCCC workstreams is available here.
  • Sixth Dialogue of Action for Climate Empowerment, Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 May, 16:00 – 19:00 (CET), Room Santiago de Chile. The workshop plenary sessions will be webcast live and be available afterwards on-demand. More information is available here.
