+++ New: Report of the Forum +++

The AC convened a workshop in 2018 on fostering engagement of the agri-food sector in resilience to climate change, co-organized with the International Trade Centre. The Adaptation Forum will share the key outcomes of the workshop and facilitate dialogues on challenges and solutions with key actors from diverse perspectives.

The 2019 Adaptation Forum will be organized in two sessions, with the first one focusing on the challenges and the second one focusing on the opportunities in engaging the private sector in  adaptation planning processes, including the NAP process, in particular beyond the implementation phase:

Session 1 - Challenges:

  1. What are barriers for governments to include the private sector in adaptation planning processes? Can any of the government representatives present share an example of how the private sector has been involved beyond the implementation phase?
  2. What are the barriers for the private sector to get involved in adaptation planning processes? Is there a broad understanding by private sector representatives of the adaptation planning processes;
  3. What are concrete measures to overcome these challenges;

Session 2 - Opportunities

  1. How do governments benefit from including the private sector in the adaptation planning processes  beyond the implementation phase? What are good practices and lessons learned for mutually beneficial involvement?
  2. What role can international, business and civil society organizations play in this regard?
