Review
At COP 29, Parties agreed (Decision 7/CP.29) to extend the enhanced Lima Work Programme on Gender for a further ten years, reaffirming its critical role in advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women within the UNFCCC process. They also decided that the development of a new Gender Action Plan will commence at the sixty-second session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation in June 2025, with the aim of recommending a draft decision for consideration and adoption at COP 30 in November 2025.
Parties also agreed to request the Chair of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation, with the support of the secretariat, to organize a technical workshop, to be held at SB 62, to facilitate the design of gender action plan activities, with a view to informing the development of the new gender action plan.

SB 62
At SB 62, the SBI taking into account the inputs to and outcome of the review of the enhanced Lima work programme on gender and its gender action plan in 2024 and the discussions at the held at this session. The SBI also agreed to continue consideration of this matter at SBI 63 (November 2025) on the basis of the at SB 62.
Additional Technical Workshop to facilitate the design of gender action plan activities – 6–7 September 2025, Addis Ababa
An additional technical workshop to facilitate the development of activities under the new gender action plan will be held on 6–7 September 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The event, hosted by Ethiopia, will take place at the same venue as the UNFCCC Climate Week and the Africa Climate Summit but is not part of those events.
This workshop follows the discussions at SB 62 (available here) and is an important milestone ahead of SBI 63.
