Abstract

This report provides a summary of the joint meeting on available tools for the use of indigenous and traditional knowledge and practices for adaptation, needs of local and indigenous communities and the application of gender-sensitive approaches and tools for adaptation, organized by the Adaptation Committee and under the Nairobi work
programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change, which was held in Bonn, Germany, from 1 to 4 April 2014. Through discussions taking place in plenary and interactive breakout sessions, participants shared good practices, opportunities and challenges with respect to the use of indigenous and traditional knowledge and practices for
adaptation, addressing the needs of local and indigenous communities, and the application of gender-sensitive approaches and tools for adaptation. The report includes a summary of recommendations identified by participants for follow-up and further consideration, including by the Adaptation Committee and under the Nairobi work programme
