UNFCCC workshop on innovative options for financing the results of the technology needs assessments

Background

The Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA), at its twenty first session, endorsed the programme of work of the Expert Group on Technology Transfer (EGTT) for 2005, which includes the organization of a workshop on innovative options for financing the results of the technology needs assessments.

Objectives and scope

The workshop on innovative options for financing the results of the technology needs assessments will be the first of this kind organized by the UNFCCC secretariat in the process. The aim of the workshop is to bring together developed and developing country representatives and members of the financial community to present results of the technology needs assessments completed by developing countries and to identify innovative options and practical approaches for financing these results. The workshop will also contribute to providing guidance, as necessary, to project proponents, as another practical step in the implementation of the results of technology needs assessments.
