Technology and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs): Stimulating the Uptake of Technologies in Support of NDC Implementation

In 2021, the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism, comprised of the TEC and the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), launched its first joint publication to stimulate the uptake of climate technologies in support of NDC implementation. Following the positive response to this flagship publication of the Technology Mechanism, the TEC and the CTCN are pleased to present below the updated 2023 version of the publication, which includes latest findings on technology needs, challenges, linkages between policy and implementation and with national adaptation plans. The publication also features 12 success stories that showcase the uptake of a broad spectrum of climate technologies in support of NDC implementation in different geographic regions and country contexts.

Summary for Policymakers

The Summary for Policymakers, available in Arabic, English, French and Spanish, offers a high-level summary of the key findings of the publication and includes policy recommendations to countries and their national technology focal points, known as national designated entities (NDEs), to stimulate the uptake of climate technologies to support the implementation of their NDCs.
