Timely, understandable, and actionable knowledge tailored to the specific and evolving needs of countries, particularly developing countries and communities, is essential to scale up adaptation action. The Nairobi Work Programme (NWP), the UNFCCC Knowledge-to-Action Hub for Climate Adaptation and Resilience, supports this by advancing adaptation efforts and strengthening resilience to climate change impacts across systems and communities. This includes developing forward-looking strategies and collaboratively co-creating, curating, and delivering relevant knowledge and practical know-how aligned with countries’ and communities’ unique and changing needs.
In turn, countries and communities are better equipped to act earlier on emerging climate risks by translating diverse, trusted knowledge into practical solutions that strengthen adaptive capacity, reduce vulnerability, and enhance resilience at all levels.
The NWP collaborates with a wide range of knowledge holders, including its diverse network of over 450 leading organizations, representing scientific institutions, academia, UN agencies, private sector actors, Indigenous peoples, local communities, and universities.
