Mandated events are activities formally requested by the governing or subsidiary bodies through decisions or conclusions adopted under the UNFCCC process. Mandated events form a part of the official intergovernmental process to facilitate the exchange of information and views among Parties.
They support the implementation of the Convention, the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement by enabling technical exchange, advancing understanding of specific issues, and informing the deliberations of Parties in relevant negotiations.
Mandated events are conducted in line with the relevant mandate and coordinated by the UNFCCC secretariat, subject to the availability of financial resources.
