Consultation on Net Zero Recognition and Accountability Framework

In response to an invitation from UNFCCC Executive Secretary, Simon Stiell, on how best to operationalize Recommendation 8 of the Integrity Matters Report by the UN Secretary-General’s Expert Group on Net-Zero pledges of non-state actors, an independent consultation has been conducted by co-chairs Sarah Bloom Raskin, Distinguished Professor of Law at Duke University, and Dr Bing Leng, member of the International Sustainability Standards Board.

On 24 May 2024, the co-chairs submitted recommendations to UNFCCC arising from the consultation. The Executive Secretary has warmly thanked the co-chairs, and noted that these independent recommendations will be considered carefully, with a response to follow in the period ahead.
