Panel Presentations: Fostering Information Integrity through ACE

Panel presentations explore how the six ACE elements — education and public awareness, training, public participation, public access to information, and international cooperation on these matters— serve as essential tools for informed and engaged societies, in turn, how robust information integrity is a prerequisite for effective ACE implementation, while also examining the challenges and opportunities in accessing tools and support for ACE implementation.

World Café: Building an Informed and Empowered Society

Participants rotate among four thematic stations (one rotation). Each station is facilitated by experts and includes a rapporteur. Discussions emphasize cross-sector collaboration and practical solutions.

 

Theme

Station 1

Empowering Citizens Through Climate Literacy: focuses on strengthening formal and informal education systems to foster critical thinking and uphold information integrity on climate change.

Facilitators: Christine Özden, Global Director, Climate Education, Cambridge University Press & Assessment & (TBC)

Station 2

Enhancing the Accessibility, Reliability, and Effectiveness of Information on Climate Change: focuses on the role of media, libraries, digital platforms and communicators in making information on climate change accessible, reliable, and effective.

Facilitators: Hanna Lappalainen, docent, Pan-Eurasian Experiment (PEEX) Program Secretary General, University of Helsinki & (TBC)

Station 3

 

Mobilizing Children and Youth for Climate Leadership: focuses on empowering young people as agents of change through capacity-building and training and intergenerational cooperation, promoting meaningful participation in policy-making processes.

Facilitators:  JP Amaral, Head of Nature, Alana & Aayush Dwivedi, YOUNGO

Station 4

Pathways for Effective ACE Implementation: focuses on sharing progress and challenges related to the accessibility of tools and support, including financial and technical assistance, for ACE implementation in order to promote climate literacy, science-based education and information, and trustworthy communication channels to empower societies.
